After having completed the MBA course at HTMi the school gave me the opportunity of an internship at the five-star Hotel Le Beau Rivage Palace Lausanne, one of the Leading Hotels of the World.
For me HTMi was an amazing experience. First of all, I learned things about myself that I did not know, which positively changed my way of life. I had the chance to be educated by exceptional teachers who offered unforgettable intellectual experiences, and I was surrounded by the memorable MBA class of summer 2007, in amazing Soerenberg. I miss it so much. I am now working for Office Depot as AP Process Manager, in the Financial Administration Dept. I am in charge of a department with numerous staff, in contact with worldwide corporations and processing important transactions in the financial markets. Although I am not in the hospitality industry anymore, all the knowledge assimilated in HTMi is essential for me and I use it daily in
my work, and that has so far proved to be highly appreciated by the company. Good things never come too soon or when you expect them, but HTMi will see that you will get them eventually.
For all of you who want to attend HTMi, have the courage to go as a student and return as a manager.
Vladimir Nitu, Romania.
Hello everyone,
How is everyone doing? I am always excited to hear and catch up with all the graduates from HTMi. I am glad to write to you today to share with you my last 5-year experience in Hospitality.
Having chosen Hospitality as your career, there are a lot of requirements such as commitment, flexibility, long hours, and always keep yourself up-to-date to the industry’s best practice and benchmark. Obviously it’s not always easy but once you’ve started it, you’ll eventually grow into your role and “fall in love” with your job.
I graduated from HTMi in summer 2008. I flew directly from Switzerland to Dubai with loads of excitement. Didn’t know what to expect as Dubai was not as well known as that stage compared to it is now. I was selected for a fast track Management Trainee with Rotana Hotels and Resorts, a very fine local hotel chain. I was promoted to Assistant Executive Lounge Manager in completion of 12-month training. Hard work did pay-off well when I was promoted to Executive Lounge Manager after 5 months, at the age of 23. After 1 year, I decided to move on to a different brand, Shangri La Hotels and Resorts, taking over a more challenging role in a high-end luxury hotel, as Guest Service Manager/Guest Relations. I get to directly meet, greet and check-in all the high profile guests that are staying in the hotel. I met so many celebrities and Government Officials who stayed at the Shangri La Hotel Dubai. It was so much fun and so much learning experience.
I’ve recently got transferred from Shangri La Hotel Dubai to Shangri La Hotel Sydney as Service Manager – Front Office. After 5 years in Dubai, I am so thrilled to take up the new challenge in Sydney. I have only been here for 2 weeks but I am in love with the place and the team already. I guess the good thing about me is that I adapt changes easily and always open for challenge. Have you identified what your strengths, weaknesses and area of interest for your future career yet? I sincerely advise you do this exercise as soon as possible so that you can have a clearer direction of what you want to do and where you see yourself in the next 3 years, 5 years, 10 years and so on.
Wish you all the very best!

My name Nii Odoi Yemoh and I come from Ghana.
I started my studies in HTMi in the Spring semester of 2008 and after the final semester which is the BSc Hons Degree, I am now working as an Events and Banquet Trainee at the Marriott Indianapolis. I got to know about the school through one of the education fairs that was held in my home country and I was particularly impressed with what I saw and heard which played a key part in my decision to come and study here.
In HTMi, there is always a sense of belongingness since you can find almost all nationalities you can think of in the world and I’m proud to be part of such a fantastic community. I had no working experience in the hospitality industry but HTMi offered me the opportunity to enhance my knowledge by offering an excellent internship which proved to be the turning point in my quest to become a very good future manager. My goal in life is to take whatever HTMi has offered me during my time here into the hospitality industry and use it as a daily guide for my future success. One more thing I will always remember the professionalism standards set by school which helps students here to become brilliant managers in the industry.
Very best regards

This semester is my 3rd semester here in HTMi and I am now studying Culinary Management. I am really impressed by the method of teaching in this institute as well as the teachers and my dearest colleagues. There are more than 30 nationalities of students are studying here which gives me lots of chances to know more about the different types of cultures. They are all very kind-hearted and willing to help each other.
Now, it has been 1 and a half year since the first time I stepped into HTMi Switzerland. I feel great in this amazing country with a beautiful places and friendly people, and my life has changed a lot. Now, I feel as a person I have gained a lot of knowledge and experiences, I feel more confident and more mature in facing the working world. I am very proud and fortunate to be a member of the HTMi family, and once I am a member of HTMi family, I will always be.
In this valuable opportunity, I wanted to thank my HTMi family which always motivates me and has given me a lot of support, thank you for guiding me to reach my dream in becoming a future manager in the hospitality industry.
My best wishes,

My name is Naizabekova Anel. I’m from Kazakhstan. Last August I first arrived at the HTMi campus. Feeling lost and missing my family, I did not know if I could get through the whole semester. However, the teachers and students of HTMi warmly welcomed me to the school and made me feel at home. I got to know many people from different countries and backgrounds, who have now, became my friends.
Starting in HTMi I did not know much about the hospitality industry. But with the help and guidance of our professional teaching staff team, I already feel like an experienced manager. I am going to do my internship in a famous five star hotel chain “Rixos” and I am sure that I can apply all the knowledge I have gained in HTMi at my workplace.
My school is situated in Soerenberg, a very safe place and one of the most beautiful locations in Central Switzerland. The local people here are really friendly and are even helping me to learn their language, which, without any doubt, will benefit me in my future career. Moreover, there is so much to do here during the weekends, whether it is going snowboarding or meeting my friends in the local café.
I am grateful to HTMi for providing me with an excellent opportunity to learn so many new cultures: our management staff always encourages us to share our traditions with each other. This way I can learn a lot of new things about the world we live in, which is so important in the hospitality industry. I hope that I can learn more and more, how my teachers tell me “do everything step by step”.

Dear Readers,
Its been three years already that I am studying in HTMi and I am very proud to be here. I still remember my first day, when I arrived I was so sad to be far from my family as it was the first time I was going away from home, but the warm welcome, help and good services I had here, have decreased my sadness and increased my happiness. Since then I consider HTMi as my family. Moreover being here in a professional environment, I learnt to be more responsible, confident of myself and independent. These 3 factors have helped me very much during my internship where I was given lots of responsibilities though being an internship student. For this, I give all the credits to HTMi for helping me to the person I am today. I am now working as a Front Office Trainee in Sun Valley Resort in the USA and will be back to Switzerland for my BSc in August!

My name is Gorkem Salli, I am from Turkey. HTMI is the great place to gain experience and learn about present day hospitality business. I am glad to be student of HTMI and everybody is friendly and warm-hearted as well as tactful. I have been at HTMI for 1 year.
After my certificate class I did my internship at Robinson Club Nobilis, as a receptionist in Turkey in Antalya, which is well known as a massive holiday spot. During my internship I was not shy and nervous at all because I had been taught and trained how to behave and understand guests needs, and in addition to those skills required to develop into a future manager. I am doing the Diploma course now, but nevertheless I have a long way to go in my education. I have been learning about all the departments in hotels and management styles that make me feel like I have already become a manager.

My name is Kay, I am a student of HTMi. Studying hospitality and tourism course is like an essential course for everybody who is interested in working in the hotel and tourism industry. Of course we all want better education and experiences to get a better job in the future. As everyone knows, Switzerland is the country, which specializes in hotel and tourism courses, and so I chose HTMi, Hotel and Tourism Management Institute Switzerland to start my future career.
At HTMi I am now studying the Diploma, course which means the second year of the undergraduate programme. Before that, I had six-month internship in a fine dining restaurant in Zurich. Basically, I worked as a service trainee. I was trained to serve there with what I have learned such as the procedure of opening a wine bottle and the way of serving the dish.
For my diploma year, I am currently learning how to make perfect cocktails, all types of long drinks, types of coffees and starting to learn more about history of beverages in the bar and of course in the school’s Swisscafé too. I personally think that, food and beverage is like a perfect match. I cannot just get information of either one or it would not give the guests a great meal experience because they need your recommendation on both food and beverage together.
For next semester, I know there will be much more to learn about hotel management. But I just love to know these things which often are not adopted by staff in hotels and so try to serve and satisfy the needs of guests. At HTMi there will be much more to catch up as time goes on, so I must enhance my knowledge regarding all about hospitality and of course the contemporary issues in hospitality that have happened or will happen soon.
After this course, I would like to work in any five-star hotel in either front office department or any other where I will have direct contact with the guests on the first sight and last so I can probably notice all the likes and dislikes of guests then find out the solutions to improve the hotel operation. I would also like to work in the food and beverage department where I can see the reactions and the satisfactions of all guests every time when the food is being served.
