I am Cody Dulthummon from Mauritius.
At the outset , I wish to thank HTMI and all the staff for their support and professional approach. I started my studies in January 2013 at HTMi doing Certificate in Hotel and Management. Settling down was smooth. The nice views; surroundings and calm atmosphere help in doing so. I enjoyed the nice views and surroundings of the school.
Class atmosphere ,staff and students interaction were such that the first six months went through in the glimpse of an eye. I must say that course contents and delivery of same were of optimum level. I enjoyed the first six months at school very much.
For my first internship I was , in Geneva working for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in the famous One Star Michelin Restaurant names ”Rasoi”.
At first , I had quite some difficulty to adapt to the high level of service delivery ,working odd and long hours, but adaptation meant survival for me. I gained lots of experience, meeting clients expectation and also in inter personal relationship with other colleagues.
I have now started my second year, doing the diploma course. My choice for choosing Switzerland to study is definitely because of the good reputation of being the best in hospitality training courses. Also, I am learning a lot from others as HTMI is a multi cultural school. Friday, being the cultural night, we are given the opportunity to learn about other cultural foods.
I am looking forward to this year, which am sure will come with all the challenges and difficulties but with the rewards as well. I would like to do my next internship in a foreign country ,if possible at supervisory level, in the different departments of the hotel.
Being in a foreign country , I will have the opportunity to learn more about their culture, food habits and more. Thanks to the school for having in their program the career department which takes care of our work placement in outstanding and recognised hotels around the world.
Having said all that, I admit that we do have much fun at the same time, which makes all of this so enjoyable. Using the pool, the gym and the bar facilities help up to relax.
