New Delhi, March 1, 2023: The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) of India and HTMi Hotel and Tourism Management Institute of Switzerland have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to provide international pathways, internships and placements for Indian students and professionals in the hospitality and tourism sector.
The partnership was announced at an event on February 28, 2023, where Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that India will soon be the global skills hub. He said that the government is investing in education and skill development to ensure that people have the knowledge and competencies required for the 21st century.
He also praised HTMi for its excellence in hospitality education and training and said that India can learn from its best practices. He expressed hope that this partnership will enhance the quality and standards of skills training in India, and enable more people to access global opportunities.
“The partnership between NSDC and HTMi will provide options for international pathways, internship opportunities, and placement assistance by HTMi Switzerland,” Pradhan said.
“NSDC and HTMi envision supporting the hospitality and tourism industry with large numbers of well-trained hospitality professionals, through the Swiss Apprentice Education and Training Mode. This partnership will assist students to make a career in the hospitality sector and narrow the existing gap between the demand and supply of skills across the globe,” said Ian Larmour, Managing Director of HTMi International Development Group.
