HTMi Supports South Africa as the Chosen Swiss Hospitality School to get Thousands of South Africans Back to Work

First launched in early 2018, and after detailed planning we are into action!

The Swiss Ambassador to South Africa Madame Helene Budliger-Artieda (centre) helps to launch the new Swiss-South African Hospitality Apprenticeship Programme (SSAHP!), delivered by HTMi teacher/trainer Mr Jonathan Lim (1st left) who is currently working with representatives from some of Johannesburg’s leading hotels. This is based upon the famous Swiss dual system of study, train and work.

HTMi working with the Swiss Embassy to South Africa and the National Business Initiative (NBI) have developed a range of Hospitality apprenticeship courses to offer career help to potentially millions of young unemployed South Africans.

HTMi Switzerland CEO Mr Ian Larmour hailed the collaboration as a potential game changer for young people around the world who have been disadvantaged in early years and who seek an entry level training qualification into the hospitality industry.

The Embassy of Switzerland congratulates all the trainers from Hilton Sandton, Park Inn Sandton and Hyatt Regency Rosebank for completing the Train the Trainers course for SSHAP!, the Swiss-South African Hospitality Apprenticeship Programme conducted by @HTMi-Hotel and Tourism Management Institute, Switzerland. SSHAP! comprises a six-month dual apprenticeship, with integrated theoretical and practical training, targeting three occupational roles in the hospitality industry: front desk, housekeeping and waitering. The programme is a partnership between the Embassy of Switzerland to South Africa, @National Business Initiative, @HTMi-Hotel and Tourism Management Training Institute, @Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator and large hotel groups.
