On Saturday, 27thOctober 2018 the 32ndArmada Cup was held on the Wohlensee in Bern. The international rowing championship is held annually in Bern and attracts athletes of all ages from all around the world, with over 200 athletes rowing the 9km for a final time.

The Dutch team won both the men’s and ladies race, followed by the Swiss team. Third place went to Croatia, represented by the Olympic and World Champion Valent Sinkovic who won gold at the 2016 Summer Olympics and silver in the 2012 Summer Olympics.

This was the seventh year that HTMi has been supporting the Armada Cup and 24 eager and enthusiastic students had the excellent chance to gain experience and learn first-hand how a sporting event is organised. The students were deployed in various departments such as VIP logistics, press lounge, VIP catering, beverage, prize giving, transportation, registration and helping athletes with the pontoons before and after the race. The event ended with a traditional fondue dinner served to over 300 invited VIP guests. In his closing speech Mr. Thomas von Burg, OC President said “My heartfelt thanks go to everybody who has helped over the years to make the Armada Cup a very special race.”

The organisers of the event were once again exceptionally delighted and amazed with the high levels of professionalism, quality, training, teamwork and level of discipline displayed by the HTMi team.

HTMi would like to thank the organisers of the Armada Cup for giving our students this opportunity of supporting the events over many years.

We are extremely proud of our students, not only did they meet the expectations of the organisers but exceeded them with their professionalism, hard work and high standards of work ethics.
