I am Prathulya Rajaram 20 years old from Coimbatore a small city in the South of India. When I was 18 I wanted to leave home, and travel the world. I had great interest towards tourism and Hotel industry. It was then when I came across HTMi. Though at the very beginning the thought of studying abroad in a totally different country, culture and tradition was a little hesitant but now I would say that was the best decision I made in my life. After coming to HTMi my life has completely changed, the teachers and staff at HTMi are very helpful and guide the students towards the best possible opportunities and ideas. My first year I did Certificate in International Hotel and Tourism Operations and my first internship was in Service in a small Swiss family hotel called Rischli in Sorenberg. At the beginning, I had a thought that I wasn’t placed in five-star hotel but later I took it as a challenge to make use of this opportunity to learn Swiss German and get a better position for my next internship. At the end of six months to my surprise and to many others I started to speak fluent Swiss German and I felt proud of myself. I then completed diploma and got an internship in Front office at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Zurich Airport which I thought I would never get but thanks to the Career Centre for believing in me and applying endlessly until I got what I wanted. I am now doing about 250 check-ins a day speaking Swiss German with ease all thanks to my first intern hotel and of course to HTMi for offering proper guidance and advice whenever needed. It has just been two years here at HTMi and my life has almost completely changed, another two years to complete my studies and I hope to make the best of it. HTMi teaches one to stay independent, create new innovations and also train students to handle pressure and work in groups. It is a great platform to get to know about many international cultures. At HTMi there are students from more than 20 different nationalities and everyone respects everybody’s culture and traditions. It is really great to be a part of HTMi and I am proud to say that I am a Student from HTMi. I would once again like to thank all the teaching and non-teaching staff of HTMi for always being the best they could be and ensuring all students make the best of their time whilst they are on Campus. At the end from my personal experience I would just like to share one thing for the new students “work hard towards your goal, be honest and be friendly to everyone and you will make the best out of HTMi”.
