A review of 2016 shows our dedication to growth and success through innovation and academic excellence. A clear testament to this is from the Institute of Hospitality, who re-accredited HTMi for a further 5 years, adding to the longstanding accreditations of Eduqua, BAC, Universities of Ulster and Edinburgh Napier. On the research front, HTMi held its  17th International Research Conference, with the theme: ”Making a Difference in Hospitality and Tourism”.

HTMi celebrated excellence in events management with its 21st  International Gala evening, “The Oscars”, where we hosted many members of the Diplomatic Corps from around the world, and over 50 nationalities attended to enjoy this landmark event.

HTMi Career Centre continued to grow in reach and strength with a record number of placements in leading hotels in Switzerland and globally, and many executives from the Ritz Carlton Group and other leading hotel groups visited to recruit students at HTMi during 2016.

In 2016 we consolidated our international growth plan by forming the HTMi international Development Group, with the clear aim of bringing the HTMi brand of education and training to a wide and high quality global platform.  In 2016 HTMi gained 4 years education approval for HTMi (Singapore), adding to its campuses in Switzerland and India, and to its collaboration campuses with HTMi taught programmes in New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Bahrain, and Kazakhstan. By end 2016, we counted over 2000 students studying HTMi programmes globally.  We also continued to grow our connections to top universities with exchange and transfer agreements in China, USA, Australia, Taiwan, Canada, and many more to follow.

In addition to global advancement, innovation is part of the HTMi DNA, there are many examples to point to, but the one with the greatest global impact is Swisstouches Hotels and Resorts, an idea originally from HTMi Enterprise competition for all students, Sörenberg Concepts. At the end of 2016 we have signed contracts to open 5000 hotel bedrooms in South East Asia in the next 3 years, and with many more to come.

In 2016 a group of entrepreneur HTMi students formed a team called “The Board Legacy” (pictured). We wish them well in the European enterprise competition alongside 32 European hotel schools at the EM Cup, Maastricht, Holland in February 2017. We wish them all the best and to support them, everyone is welcome and encouraged to press “Like” at the following link   https://www.facebook.com/emcup.eu/photos/a.1333759943356299.1073741837.210906915641613/1333760703356223/?type=3&theater

HTMi would like to thank everyone that supported us in 2016 and wishes everyone a very happy and prosperous 2017.

Yours sincerely,
HTMi Board of Directors and HTMi International Development Group
