Warm Greetings from Dubai,

My name is Sameer Hyderkhan from the paradise island of Mauritius. I joined HTMi in Spring 2012 for PGD in Hotel Management which gave me some new insight of the hospitality environment while interacting greatly with different nationalities and cultures. After my PGD, I had the great honor to be selected for the MIT programme within HTMi from where I believe my first exposure to the hospitality industry started. It is a tough program but rewarding in the end as it makes you better and more responsible.

In 2013, when the MIT programme was over, I got an internship in Grand Hotel des Bains at Yverdon, Switzerland as a Seminar and Service Trainee for 1 year. Getting in the real world of hospitality was amazing and always full of surprises. It keeps changing and allows one to adapt swiftly, specially in the world of Banqueting. I was responsible for the setting up of conference rooms, providing excellent customer service during seminars and also during banquets. Overall, it was a great experience for me.

Recently in January 2014, I got a great opportunity to be offered to work for one of the leading 5 star hotels in Dubai, Grand Hyatt Dubai as a Guest Services Officer at the Front Office. I have found a new family, the Hyatt family, which is treating me very well with structured training and coaching as well as excellent employee motivation. I cherish the times that I have passed in HTMi with my teachers and friends who have made me the person I am today.

One thing I will say: Keep your spirits high no matter what and persevere in what you do!

All the best and good luck for your careers

Sameer Hyderkhan
