Anthony Lack sits down with now graduated student of BsC and MiT to talk about her experience at HTMi Switzerland and Singapore and also her future endeavours.
HTMi Switzerland being the leading and innovative institute launched the first edition of the World Hospitality Student Championship. The championship was hosted at HTMi Switzerland in Sörenberg from Friday, 30th November to Sunday, 2nd December 2018, and saw the best of the best compete against each other in the areas of cocktail & mocktail making, culinary, service, barista, front office and housekeeping.
Besides HTMi Switzerland, three of our international partner schools took part, the MENA Company for Education & Development in Saudi Arabia, RIG Institute of Hospitality & Management India and the Swiss Kazak Institute for Hospitality, Kazakhstan.
All competitions were judges by a jury of independent industry experts and travelled from within Switzerland, United Kingdom, France and the United Arab Emirates.
The championships concluded on the Sunday evening with a glittering gala dinner where all guests were dined and entertained allowing HTMi Switzerland staff and students to showcase their true Swiss hospitality.

Bahrain Institute of Hospitality and Retail –a division of the Dadabai Holding, hosted its Second Graduation Ceremony under the patronage of H. E. Jameel Bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan,Minister of Labour and Social Development for HTMi Switzerland Diploma in International Hotel and Tourism Management on 11thOctober, 2018 at Wyndham Grand Hotel, Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain.
This milestone has been the result of a partnership between the Former Specific Council for Training in Hospitality under the Ministry of Labor & Social Development, HTMi Hotel & Tourism Management Institute Switzerland and Bahrain Institute of Hospitality and Retail (BIHR).

This is a joyous moment for all our graduates, their families, Ministry of Labour, Tamkeen, our industry partners and the entire BIHR team.” The program helps young Bahraini Nationals in their decision to climb up the ladder in the hospitality sector.
Mr. Ian Larmour, Managing Directorof HTMi Switzerlandshared the vision HTMi has in grooming young students into taking professional career paths sharing inspirational examples which has boosted the morale of the students.
In his speech, Mr. Humbert Vincent Buemi, Swiss Honorary Consul-General to Bahrain congratulated the students and encouraged them to pursue their passion for culinary and hospitality and encouraged the ties between the Swiss Confederation and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Graduates successfully completed 24 months of rigorous training in the hospitality sector conducted by BIHR. These graduates began their career with passion and dedication to become leaders in the field of hotel and tourism management. The graduates have successful partaken in hosting event on and off campus, have formed a strong base in guest relation, food and beverage, front office and culinary.All the graduates are employed with Bahrain’s Top Hospitality Sector.
During the event, Graduates were awarded as Star students while a few others received special application and recognition awards during the Academic Year 2016-2017.
BIHR since decades had been the only Institute in Bahrain that guarantees a 100% placement for both Bahraini and non- Bahraini students. Hoteliers are keen and earning to have such professional team work in such properties.
BIHR has been training and supporting young Bahrainis in the Hospitality, Tourism and Retail sector for over 19 years. The 25th International Gala Event, held on Friday, 23rd November 2018 is one of the most important events organised by the Higher Diploma students under the leadership of the Centre for Events Management at HTMi. In celebration of this milestone event the elegant theme chosen “The Night of the Masks”.
The highest standards of hospitality shown by the HTMi student body, was gain highly appreciated well by the guests who attended, were delighted with numerous performances and a lost love story of two characters, Josie and Robin inspired by the worldwide famous play “Romeo and Juliet” with a little twist.
Upon arrival, guests were welcomed on a red carpet and were treated to gourmet five-course dinner, ending with our traditional and famous Dessert Buffet, all prepared under the leadership of Chef Andreas Kurfürst and his culinary team.
HTMi once again had the honour and pleasure of welcoming international dignitaries, Ambassadors, Diplomats, industry leaders and invited guests.
On this special occasion HTMi was very honoured to welcome Mr. Hisham Al Grug, C.E.O, Private Office of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. HTMi’s Managing Director, Mr. Ian Larmour and Mr. Hisham Al Grug signed together a memorandum of understanding that Swisstouches Hotels and Resorts will represent the Private Office of Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum (Dubai, UAE) in China, Singapore and ASEAN, creating a business bridge between these countries and the UAE. This new collaboration is strongly supported by the Government of the United Arab Emirates.
