Once again HTMi hosted the International Gala Event, organised by its Higher Diploma and Post Graduate Event Management students, which took place on Friday, the 22nd of November 2013. The event involved numerous performances and showcases, that we are sure will remain in the memory of our guests for a very long time. The whole evening was swirled and decorated around the elegant “Grand Casino” theme.

The students accomplished this with a gourmet five-course menu where guests were treated to a fusion of food from many cultures and parts of the world. As part of the theme, the students successfully created outstanding designs and decorations around the concept of “Grand Casino”. Amazingly, the performances were carried in a manner and costumes to match the theme: from the Jamie Bond performance to the Opening Dance Performance resembling “The Great Gatsby” posh and lustrous atmosphere, cirque du soleil and finally to the magnificent Grand Finale. HTMi’s own boy band the “Wolf Pack”, this time joined by two ladies impressed the audience with their latest dancing performance. The piece de resistance was the two-metre hand crafted golden slot machine that entertained our guests. Guests had the opportunity of pulling the “human” hand and winning gold chocolate coins. The guest who had the luck of the final pull of the slot machine won a CHF 1’000’000 fun cheque, bottle of champagne and was treated to the usual fanfare of a casino.

HTMi was been honoured to host Ambassadors and members of the Diplomatic Corps from the following embassies and missions in Switzerland: South Africa, Thailand, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Russia, Malaysia, Slovakia and the Netherlands. We were also honoured to have the international board of our Hospitality Industry Leaders Advisory Board present from Taiwan, South Africa, Dubai, Canada, Tunisia and Hong Kong.

Ms. Katrin Hofer for the Save the Children Foundation was present to introduce the work of the Foundation and thanked the students of HTMi for their generosity, efforts and initiatives in raising money for this worthy charity. This Fall 2013 semester the students raised in excess of CHF 3’400 for the Save the Children Foundation and “End Modern Day Slavery Project”.

The Centre for Events Management Training would also like to thank the numerous sponsors who kindly donated many items that were used in the Tombola on the International Gala Event.

I would like to thank all the ladies and gentlemen of HTMi from all classes for their hard work, dedication, commitment, support and tireless effort in making this International Gala Event such an enjoyable, successful and memorable evening.

To quote some of the feedback given by our guests: “Best international gala event ever”, “What a great event. Wonderful attention to detail. The guests were immediately transported in to the world you had created”, “We’ll done. Great team work”.
